New Scratching post

Maybe this new post will keep Johnnie Cat and Oliver away from the couches. Has anyone ever tried Soft Paws? I'd love to get a new house in the future but want to make sure they won't ruin it a week after we purchase one.

Haven't tried Soft Paws, but I got one of those sisal scratching mats for one of my cats. She loves it. Just fed her some treats on it for the first few days and now she runs to it.

Great, thanks for the tip. I'll have to check a mat like that out.

This is what we use for all of our cats.

My cats and all the foster cats I usually have love the Alpine Scratcher. You can get it at most pet stores.

I regulary trim my cats nails. If they start to scratch on something they aren't suppose to a squirt bottle full of water sprayed at them usually does the trick. My cats just have to see the squirt bottle now and they are gone.

The Alpine Scrather works great because it is at at incline so they can stretch when they claw and it is full of catnip. It also has a little toy in the hole in the back. To get them to use it at first I bring them right over to it and show them while holding their front feet how to claw it. They love it and I go through one every other month.

I hope this helps.

Oh and great blog. Of course I love the cat pictures. I need to start one for all my cat adventures. My house is another story.
