Bathroom cabinet

bathroom cabinet, originally uploaded by House on the Corner.

This is the cabinet that will go into the master bath if it ever gets finished! With the holidays it has really gotten behind schedule. Our new master will have two pedestal sinks and this cabinet will go in between them so we can put toothpaste and other stuff in it. I am so thrilled that I found it and for half off! Top view

New side table for guest room

New sidetable, originally uploaded by House on the Corner.

We finally got a decent side table for the spare room. I had been using a little round table that is intended for plants so it basically would only hold one glass. With this one there is plenty of table top space and it the drawers are really big inside. I just love the color and think it's perfect for a guest room.

A little something that makes me smile when I take a shower...

This is the new console table that we bought for the living room. I am near the front foor when I took this picture so when you walk into the house this is the first thing you see. We will keep our keys in these drawers since we always seem to misplace them and it will also be a great place for mail.

I love pink paws

I thought I would share some of my favorite things on Fridays. I have always loved seeing pink paws on cats. These are Johnnie Cat's paws.

Cats in the home

Napping, originally uploaded by 5611 House on the Corner.

I love having Johhnie Cat and Oliver but I really hate what they do to the furniture. I need to find something that keeps them from scratching the back of the couch and loveseat. They have totally ruined the loveseat and slowly they are working on the couch. Hopefully we can break them of this habit before we get a new couch. I want a L shaped sectional one day in a dark cream or beige.

Guest room

This is our guest room. It will be one of the next "projects". As you can see I still have some Xmas stuff to put away near the end of the bed but I'm giving myself till New Years to put it back in the closet. I also have many many magazines that I need to recycle.

I want to paint this room the same color as ours and also want to get a roller shade instead of these hideous miniblinds.

Santa came to town

I think this will probably be the last year Logan believes in Santa. We went over to my sisters house for Christmas Eve and we were all waiting in the car when I said I had to use the restroom before we left. Instead of going to the bathroom I went inside and put presents under the tree and got out the stocking. "Santa" even drank eggnog and took bites of the cookies while we were at Tia's house.

I can finally sleep in our room again! I'm very pleased with the color we chose for the room and love having the desk in there too.

Christmas is almost over and 2007 is just around the corner. We had a wonderful time and very thankful for everything we received. I posted some pictures on my FLICKR account for everyone to view. If you click on the picture collage in the sidebar it should take you there.

Merry Christmas!

And then we had paint

This is the first coat. It is very similiar to the new bathroom color. Our bathroom is 6204 Sea Salt and the bedroom is 6205 Comfort Gray. I can't say that I can see a difference yet but I know once it's dry it will look a little darker. I'm so happy and think it makes the dark wood on the bed really look nice. What do you think? (You can click on my flickr acct to see tons more views of the bedroom)

And if you forgot here is a picture with the old color on the walls. We never chose it because the house was already painted when we moved here but it's a really light brown.

Snowmen

I love seeing Logan come home with artwork. This was his Christmas project at school. It's a winter theme made with chalk.

We have a wall!

Scott worked on the drywall some more today and we went to Sherwin William to buy the paint today. We are hoping they paint Thursday or Friday so we can sleep in the room by Christmas.

Phil the Snowman

We went to Lowes today to buy yet another item for the bathroom and while we were there we noticed that they had all the outdoor Christmas items for 50% off. We got this snowman that I thought looked really cute and happy and we named him Phil.

I'm hoping to go back tomorrow because they also had this carousel that I wanted but wasn't sure about. Now I know I want it!

Kinder

It's hard to believe that Logan is already in second grade. I collect Precious Moments and when Logan first started school I received this as a present. It's a little boy that is ready to go off to school. All of my Precious Moments are meaningful to me but I think this one is my favorite.

Dust dust everywhere!

Tom put the tub in today. The door you see to the left of the tub is actually the door that opens to the bathroom from the bedroom. I'm sure it's hard to tell what's what from some of these pictures.

IMG_4440

And I took this one while standing as far away as I could looking straight on.

IMG_4453

They said the wall should be done by next Thursday so we should buy the paint this weekend. I think I'm more excited about having the bedroom a new color then I am about the bathroom being done! HA! These walls have been this plain beige for NINE years! That is entirely too long.

If you look really closely to this picture you can see the snowmen flannel sheets on the bed (I told you I love snowmen) and you can also see the Raid on the floor near the mirror. We have had two of those really huge water roaches coming in now that it's been so exposed. Gross. Oh, and we don't sleep in this room right now. It smells bad and is way too dusty.

Snowmen

A few years ago I had a tree with only snowmen. I just loved finding different ones and they always cheered me up. Maybe my fascination with them comes from living in Texas where we never have snow.

This little guy is one of my favorites. A smore that looks like a snowman!

IMG_4410

Of course as the years have gone by Logan decided he wanted gingerbread men on the tree because that was his favorite Christmas design. This little guy kept turning when I tried to take a picture but he is supposed to be a gingerbread man.

Getting into the Christmas spirit

This year will be the first year that we spend Christmas morning together as a family. We decided it would be nice to start a tradition of having Christmas breakfast at our house before we headed out that morning so I bought these really festive plates, bowls, and mugs. Here is the design I chose. I wanted something that Logan would enjoy but wasn't too kiddish either. I can't wait to use them!

Front view

I wish I had taken pictures of the front of the house before we had the flagstone patio added. There used to be box cut hedges that lined the wallway to the front door and they were just so ugly. It blocked off the view to the house and they were difficult to keep trimmmed. They were also really in the way when you had groceries to carry into the house.

This is the final outcome after cutting down the hedges and covering the old sidewalk with a flagstone patio.

Changing up the master bedroom

When I came home yesterday they had replaced all of the rotten beams in the bathroom and they will probably start putting the wall up today. I'm hoping that once that part is done we will be able to sleep in our bed again. Being cramped in the spare room is no fun to say the least. I didn't realize how much I would miss my room until they started on our bath. I've actually never spent a lot of time in there but after they finish painting our walls I want to move the desk into there. Our room is large and pretty plain right now but hopefully that will start to change. (see pictures on older posts)

We chose a really pretty gray for our room which I think will making it very cozy and soothing.

Full or bare?

I am torn between taking all the stuff off the fridge and leaving all of it on. I love seeing Logan's drawings though so I will probably keep them all up. One day I will frame some of them but for now...

And the side

What is that?

I remember when I first saw my house because my mom lives down the street. We would drive by all the time and one day it was for sale. We peeked in the backyard and saw this strange looking tree. At first we thought it was an orange tree but after further investigation we realized it was a persimmon tree. Odd huh?

They aren't very tasty according to Logan.

Living room pictures

I was looking through some of my old pictures at work so I thought I'd share some of my living room pictures that I took when we painted the living/dining room. They were plain white for 8 yrs! I don't know why we never painted sooner because it makes such a wonderful difference.

Now we need to get rid of those ugly light fixtures and change the knobs on the doors to brushed nickel. Oh, and change the tiles around the fireplace. Why did they put bathroom tiles instead of stones? GAH!

Paper snowflakes

I could never make one of these but Logan's looks great!
Well, I came home to this today. They tore down the wall that connects the bathroom to the bedroom. The first shot is taken while I'm in the bedroom and the second one is me standing in the bathroom looking into the bedroom. Of course normally I can't see this while standing in the bathroom because that's where the tub goes! At least they have started.

And these are before they started.
