I posted before and after pictures of my house in another community and was really shocked that nobody had anything nice to say. They all seemed to love the ugly old fake wood siding and ugly 80's baby blue trim. To me it looked out dated and "country". It looked like the kind of house that had duck pictures hanging in the kitchen and rosters everywhere. Now, I'm not saying anything bad about that stuff but it's just not me. I know I shouldn't worry about what other people think but it did hurt my feels. We have spent a lot of time and money on the house and I guess I expected others to see the new change as a good thing. Lots of people hated my blue door and said we should go with red but ALL my neighbors have red doors and I wanted to be different. Oh, and this is not the door we plan to keep. We want to buy a new one with new locks and knobs. We just thought it needed to be painted since the old one was peeling and totally didn't go.
Maybe I just don't know whats "in" these days and people prefer bad siding that's cracking and ugly wood shingles where siding should be,
Anyway, rant over...

Thats a shame, you guys did a great job. And while little consolation, in the end the only people that need to be happy with the end result is you guys. (though in the interest of full disclosure here, lest I be accused of bias... I am also painting my front door blue, unlike my neighbors)
Haha!! You hit the nail on the head with the images that the old shade of blue evokes. I'm thinking wallpaper with the ducks, with a little pink and blue pattern, and some hearts in there for good measure. I like the new color!
I think it looks great - and I don't like green much! The blue door is nice with the green. A red door would make me think its always Christmas at your house!!!
Just remember who you are doing this for (and spending all that hard earned money for). If you are happy with it then it is the right colors - so enjoy it.
Oh how I miss the days of the Country Goose and the Teddy Bear!
Just kidding! Your updates look great!
You guys are the best. Thanks for the comments on my post. Also thank goodness any possible signs of ducks and geese are gone!
I love the changes you made! Green with cream trim is so much nicer. Be happy girl! You guys did a great job. And I'm glad you had them repaint the doors. Green on green would have made the doors disappear.
But of course I have to drop one contrasting opinion...I don't like a blue door with green walls. Sorry! Are you sure there isn't another color that you would like that isn't red? I'll think about some colors and drop by with an idea later. If you don't mind. Of course you don't have to take my advice if you don't want it...
Your exterior has me so excited about working on ours next summer. Hopefully next summer!

Thank you for the reply. We really haven't decided what we will do with the front door. After we buy the new one we will start looking at paint sample again. The current door is really old and beat up on both sides and for now we will leave it as is until we can afford a new one. And I welcome any ideas you have.
:)
Love the blue door! That kind of blue with sage green is taking off as an interior color scheme, so you're ahead of the curve.
I grew up around far too many houses that looked like your "before" and feel no nostalgia for that!
I think your house is beautiful. And I like the blue door.
your blue door looks classy. much improved over the other version of the house. another thought is a black door. very contemporary and doesn't evoke the blue goose feeling. great job!
